Ever since the schools closed, we've lived through the Covid era. That was still manageable. Then we went through the Coup, and that's when a lot of people's dreams started to wobble and fall apart. So now we have to go looking for some security, just to get by and to have a future. With it being hard to even go out and work, we've had to think about how to keep moving forward online. That's when more and more people started eyeing the IT world. The idea that if you're skilled in IT you'll be secure long-term and well paid got pushed harder and harder.

Within IT, the one that's blown up the most here is probably Web Developing. I'm not trying to criticize, but if you look around, a lot of people end up in Web Development without any real direction. Many come in thinking it's easy to get a job, that they can work Remote for foreign Companies, and that the pay is good. Given the situation in this country, that's completely understandable. We're still learning ourselves, and we've been through the same circumstances, so we get it. But becoming a Developer doesn't happen overnight, and that's what I want to talk through today.

This matters in any field. Nothing is more miserable than doing something you're not interested in. Once you start in Web Developing, you have to choose: Front-end or Back-end, and so on. Even after you pick Front-end, figure out first which Language you'll start with, what you need to learn first, whether you have a decent enough Laptop (or) Desktop to study on, and how much time you can give it. You can search Google for a Front-end Developer Roadmap, and there are now plenty of Web Developer Groups where fellow Myanmar folks share with each other, like this one. Search, and study. If you keep posting questions about things you could easily look up yourself, your Passion isn't strong enough yet.

What can happen without Passion? You lose your grip, like a monkey missing the branch. In Front-end, beyond the basics of HTML, CSS and JavaScript, the commonly used Technologies come in two kinds, like PHP and React: one is Server Side and the other is Client Side. There are lots of other Languages and Frameworks too. On top of that, if you run off to Java because someone says Java jobs in Japan pay well, then run to Python because Machine Learning is trending, then run to Flutter to build Cross Platform Apps, you won't get far with any of them. Learning a bit of everything is good, but if you don't have Passion for the thing you're mainly focused on, you'll fall behind.

A lot of people think writing Code just means typing it out. In real life, nobody is hammering away at the Keyboard non-stop like you see online. For a single line of Code to happen, your brain has to think it through and then your hands write it down. The problem people run into here is not being able to think it through, not being able to come up with the Logic. When you're handed a Problem, you don't know where or how to start writing. When your Logical Thinking gets weak and the things you can't solve pile up, you start feeling like this subject just isn't for you, and it can even get you down. That's why the Passion above matters too. There's a Stage we all hit in Developer Life: a point where you just can't think any further, when it feels like you've lost your way. Once you get past that moment, you'll be OK.

Just studying the material isn't enough. To get better at Logical Thinking, you should start building small Real Life Projects yourself, and keep Challenging yourself on Coding Solving Websites. These are things that come from experience, so you have to put in the time too.

Like I said last time, this matters in any field. No matter how much talent you have for Coding, if you don't put in the time to practice, you're like a Sport Car that's left parked and never driven. Keep your brain sharp. Living in the IT era, you'll never run out of Project Ideas. And when you finish a Mini Project, don't just leave it there: put it up on Communities like GitHub, and you can Share it in local Web Developer Groups too. That way you get to hear advice from Seniors, and you'll have built a Community for yourself along the way.

Also, learning never really ends, and there's no point where you know enough and you're done. Some people post things like "I've got HTML and CSS down, what should I do next?", and everyone jumps into the comments with do this, do that. If you follow that advice without anyone knowing what Level you're actually at, it's easy to get lost. So give it time and keep learning steadily. Consistency is what matters.

This is the most important part. Nobody works without getting something out of it, right? Lots of people just spread the line that IT jobs pay well and that Web Developers earn this much, but they don't know that the Process you actually go through doesn't match what you get back, especially in this country. Given the state of the country, when businesses hire a Front-end Developer, they often come with long lists of Requirements, right down to doing odd jobs around the office. The salary you actually get is basic pay with maybe tea money added on top. At some Companies there isn't even a UI/UX Designer, so as the Front-end Developer you end up responsible for everything, starting from the Design Principles.

There are Companies that genuinely pay well, but they're few. Businesses in the country aren't as developed as you'd think, so they can't hire for separate Roles, and that's where these problems come from.

Reading all this might well bum you out, or even get you down. But this is what I want to tell people who are coming into this field because someone else told them to, or because they feel they have no other choice. Ask yourself these questions too. One thing to watch out for is the problem of picking the wrong teacher. With more and more people who only know a little turning around and acting as teachers, that's where all the nonsense starts. If you're genuinely interested, though, you're Welcome anytime. Everyone in this field is like family to me, so I'm always ready to help 🙋‍♂️

ကျောင်းတွေပိတ်သွားတဲ့အချိန်ကစလို့ ကျွန်တော်တို့တွေက Covid တစ်ခေတ်ကိုကြုံရတယ်၊ ဒီထိကအဆင်ပြေသေးတယ်၊ တစ်ခါထပ်ပြီး Coup ကိုကြုံရတယ်၊ ဒီအချိန်မှာအတော်များများက အိမ်မက်တွေစပြီးယိုင်လဲစပြုလာပြီ။ ဆိုတော့အသက်ရှင်နေထိုင်ရေးအတွက်၊ ဘဝရှေ့ရေးအတွက်အာမခံချက်တွေလိုက်ရှာရပြီ။ အပြင်လည်းထွက်လုပ်ဖို့ခက်နေတဲ့အချိန်မှာ Online ကနေပဲဘယ်လိုရှေ့ဆက်လျှောက်ရမယ်ဆိုတာကိုစဥ်းစားလာရပြီ။ ဒီအချိန်မှာ IT လောကကိုမျက်စိကျတဲ့သူများလာတယ်။ IT နဲ့ပတ်သတ်ပြီးတတ်ကျွမ်းထားရင် ရေရှည်စိတ်ချရတယ်၊ လစာကောင်းတယ်ဆိုတဲ့အတွေးကိုရိုက်သွင်းတာတွေများလာတယ်

IT နယ်ပယ်ထဲမှာမှ ဒီမှာအပွထဆုံးကတော့ Web Developing လို့ပြောလို့ရတာပေါ့။ ဝေဖန်တာမဟုတ်ပေမဲ့ အတော်များများကိုကြည့်လိုက်ရင် Web Development ဘက်ကိုဦးတည်ချက်မရှိရောက်တာလာတွေများတယ်။ အလုပ်ရဖို့လွယ်တယ်၊ နိုင်ငံခြား Company တွေမှာ Remote လုပ်လို့ရမယ်၊ လစာကောင်းတယ်ဆိုတဲ့အတွေးတွေနဲ့ဝင်လာကြတာများတယ်။ ဒါကိုလည်း ဒီနိုင်ငံအခြေအနေအရကောင်းကောင်းကြီးနားလည်ပေးလို့ရပါတယ်။ ကျွန်တော်တို့ကိုယ်တိုင်လည်း အခုထိသင်ယူနေဆဲဖြစ်သလို၊ ဒီအခြအနေတွေကိုကျော်ဖြတ်လာရတဲ့သူတွေဖြစ်တဲ့အတွက်သဘောပေါက်ပါတယ်။ ဒါပေမဲ့ Developer တစ်ယောက်ဖြစ်လာဖို့ဆိုတာ ဟတ်ချလောင်းဆိုပြီးဖြစ်မလာဘူးဆိုတဲ့အကြောင်းကိုဒီနေ့မှာ ဝေဖန်လေကန်သွားမှာပါ

ဒီအချက်ကဘယ်နယ်ပယ်မှာမဆိုအရေးကြီးပါတယ်။ ကိုယ်စိတ်မဝင်စားတဲ့အရာကိုလုပ်ရတာလောက်စိတ်ညစ်ဖို့ကောင်းတာမရှိပါဘူး။ ကိုယ်က Web Developing ပိုင်းကိုစလုပ်ပြီဆိုတာနဲ့ Front-end လား၊ Back-end လားစသဖြင့်ရွေးချယ်ရပါမယ်၊ ဒီမှာ ကိုယ်က Front-end ရွေးချယ်လိုက်ပြီဆိုရင်တောင် ဘယ် Language ကိုစပြီးသင်မယ်၊ ဘာတွေအရင်လေ့လာဖို့လိုတယ်၊ ကိုယ်လေ့လာဖို့အတွက်ကောကိုယ့်မှာ Laptop (or) Desktop အသင့်အတင့်လောက်ရှိရဲ့လား၊ အချိန်ဘယ်လောက်ပေးနိုင်မလဲစတာတွေကိုအရင်ဆုံးလေ့လာပြီးတွက်ချက်ပါ။ Google မှာ Front-end Developer Roadmap ကိုရှာဖတ်လို့ရသလို၊ အခုလိုကိုယ့်မြန်မာအချင်းချင်းဝေမျှပေးနေတဲ့ Web Developer Group တွေအများကြီးရှိနေပါပြီ။ ရှာဖွေပါ၊ လေ့လာပါ။ အားအားရှိ ရှာလို့ရတာလောက်လေးကို Post တင်ပြီးမေးနေရင်တော့သင့် Passion မလုံလောက်သေးပါဘူး။

Passion မရှိရင်ဘာဖြစ်လာနိုင်လဲဆိုတော့မျောက်သစ်ကိုင်းလွတ်တတ်တာပါ။ Front-end မှာဆိုရင်အခြေခံ HTML, CSS, JavaScript အပြင်ကိုမှ၊ အသုံးများတဲ့ Technology တွေအတွက်ဆို PHP နဲ့ React ဆိုပြီးနှစ်မျိုးရှိပါတယ်၊ တစ်ခုက Server Side ဖြစ်ပြီး၊ နောက်တစ်ခုက Client Side ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ တခြား Language တွေ၊ Framework တွေလည်းအများကြီးရှိပါသေးတယ်။ အဲ့တာတွေအပြင်ကိုမှ သူများက ဂျပန်မှာ Java နဲ့အလုပ်ခေါ်တာတွေကလစာကောင်းတယ်ဆိုလို့ Java ပြေးလုပ်တာ၊ တစ်ခါ Machine Learning ကခေတ်စားလာလို့ Python ကိုပြေးပြန်ပြီ၊ တစ်ခါ Cross Platform App တွေလုပ်ဖို့ Flutter လည်းပြေးလုပ်ပြန်ပြီဆိုရင်တော့ ဘယ်ဟာကိုမှခရီးရောက်မှာမဟုတ်ပါဘူး။ အစုံလေ့လားထားတာကောင်းတယ်ဆိုပေမဲ့ ကိုယ်အဓိကဦးတည်လုပ်နေတဲ့အရာကို Passion မရှိရင်နောက်ကောက်ကျကျန်နေခဲ့မှာပါ

အတော်များများအမြင်မှာ Code ရေးရတယ်ဆိုတာရေးလိုက်ရုံပဲပေါ့။ တကယ့်လက်တွေ့မှာတော့ Online ပေါ်ကမြင်နေကြ Keyboard ကိုတစ်ဂျောက်ဂျောက်ရိုက်ပြီးဆက်တိုက်ရေးနေတဲ့သူရယ်မရှိပါဘူး။ Code တစ်ကြောင်းဖြစ်လာဖို့ဆိုတာဦးနှောက်ကတွေးနေပြီးလက်ကချရေးမှဖြစ်တာပါ။ ဒီနေရာမှာကြုံရတာက မတွေးတောနိုင်တာ၊ Logic မထုတ်နိုင်တာမျိုးပါ။ ကိုယ့်ကို Problem တစ်ခုလာပေးပြီဆိုရင် ဘယ်ကဘယ်လိုစရေးရမယ်မသိတော့တာမျိုးပေါ့။ Logical Thinking အားနည်းလာတဲ့အခါ ကိုယ်မဖြေရှင်းနိုင်တဲ့အရာတွေများလာတဲ့အခါ ဒီဘာသာရပ်ကြီးကကိုယ်နဲ့မသက်ဆိုင်တော့သလိုခံစားလာရတယ်၊ ဆက်ပြီး စိတ်ဓာတ်ကျတာမျိုးတွေထိပါဖြစ်လာနိုင်ပါတယ်။ ဒါကြောင့် အပေါ်က Passion ကလည်းအရေးပါတာပါ၊ ကျွန်တော်တို့ Developer Life မှာကြုံရတဲ့ Stage တစ်ခုရှိပါတယ်။ အဲ့တာကဘာလဲဆိုတော့ ဘာမှဆက်တွေးလို့မရတော့တဲ့အခြေအနေပါ၊ လမ်းပျောက်ပြီလိုခံစားလာရတဲ့အချိန်ပေါ့။ အဲ့အခိုက်အတန့်လေးကိုကျော်လွှားနိုင်ပြီဆိုတာနဲ့ အိုကေနားစားပါပဲ

နောက်ပြီးသင်ယူမှုတွေကပြီးဆုံးသွားတယ်ဆိုတာမရှိသလို၊ ဘယ်လောက်တတ်ရင်ပြီးပြီဆိုတာမျိုးလည်းမရှိပါဘူး။ တချို့တွေ့ရတာက HTML, CSS ရသွားလို့ဘာဆက်လုပ်ရမယ်ဆိုတာမျိုးတင်တဲ့အခါ၊ အောက်မှာလည်း ဘာလုပ်ပါ၊ ညာလုပ်ပါဝင်အကြံပေးကြတာပေါ့၊ တင်တဲ့သူကဘယ်လောက် Level ထိရတယ်မသိဘဲ အကြံပေးတဲ့အတိုင်းလိုက်လုပ်ရာမှ ကြောင်ပျောက်နေရင်မလွယ်ပါဘူး။ ဒါကြောင့်အချိန်ပေးပြီး စဥ်ဆက်မပြတ်လေ့လာနေပါ၊ Consistency ရှိဖို့ကအရေးကြီးပါတယ်

အရေးကြီးဆုံးအပိုင်းပါပဲ။ ဘယ်သူမှတော့ကိုယ့်အတွက်အကျိုးအမြတ်တစ်ခုမရှိဘဲအလုပ်မလုပ်ဘူးလေ ဟုတ်။ အတော်များများက IT အလုပ်ကဝင်ငွေကောင်းတယ်၊ Web Developer တွေဆိုဘယ်လောက်ပေးတာစတဲ့ဝါဒီတွေကိုပဲဖြန့်ကြတယ်၊ တကယ်နောက်မှာလုပ်ရတဲ့ Process နဲ့ကိုယ်ပြန်ရတာနဲ့ကကိုက်ညီမှုမရှိတာကိုတော့မသိကြဘူး၊ အထူးသဖြင့်ဒီနိုင်ငံမှာလိုပေါ့။ နိုင်ငံရဲ့အခြေအနေကိုအရ လုပ်ငန်းတွေက Front-end Developer ခေါ်ပြီဆိုတာနဲ့ ရုံးရဲ့တောက်တိုမယ်ရလုပ်ရဖို့လောက်ထိကိုအဆုံး Requirements အရှည်ကြီးတွေနဲ့ခေါ်တတ်ကြတယ်။ တကယ်ပြန်ရတဲ့လစာကြတော့ အခြေခံလစာကိုမှလက်ဘက်ရည်ဖိုးထပ်တိုးပေးထားတဲ့လစာတွေနဲ့။ တချို့သော Company တွေမှာဆိုရင် UI/UX Designer လိုမျိုးတောင်မရှိတဲ့အခါ Front-end Developer တစ်ယောက်အနေနဲ့ Design Principles တွေကအစအကုန်တာဝန်ယူရပါတော့တယ်။

တကယ်ကောင်းကောင်းပေးတဲ့ Company တွေလည်းရှိပေမဲ့နည်းပါတယ်။ နိုင်ငံရဲ့လုပ်ငန်းတွေအခြေအနေကိုက ထင်သလောက်ဖွံဖြိုးမနေတာကြောင့်သီးခြား Role မခေါ်နိုင်တဲ့အခါဖြစ်လာတဲ့ပြဿနာတွေပေါ့။
